چکیده

Abstract Fiber-reinforced polymer composites are high-performance materials used extensively in aerospace and defense industries. Researchers have added various nanoscale to FRPs for improving their mechanical properties prepare multifunctional composites. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) with high strength, modulus, large aspect ratio emerged as a frontrunner the nano-reinforcements, there is volume of published research on this topic. This article provides an extensive review key publications covering topics fabrication methods, enhancement properties, applications CNT-modified FRP structural health monitoring. A description main methods adding CNTs into materials, including dispersion resin film lay-up, presented. focus effect composites, interlaminar fracture toughness, impact resistance, fatigue properties. Since self-sensing potential use nondestructive identification (NDI) monitoring (SHM) composite structures. Finally, discussion problems that might be encountered during nano-reinforcements FRP, future application reported.

Mechanical properties of carbon nanotube/polymer composites

The remarkable mechanical properties of carbon nanotubes, such as high elastic modulus and tensile strength, make them the most ideal and promising reinforcements in substantially enhancing the mechanical properties of resulting polymer/carbon nanotube composites. It is acknowledged that the mechanical properties of the composites are significantly influenced by interfacial interactions between...

Structural Health Monitoring using Carbon Nanotube (CNT) Enhanced Composites

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are being investigated as a means for large-scale inspection of composite structures. Several studies have shown that CNTs possess exceptional mechanical stiffness and strength, as well as excellent electrical conductivity and piezoresistivity. Thus, it has been proposed that CNTs could be used not only to reinforce composite structures for improved impact and delaminati...

Mechanical and Electrical Properties of Carbon Nanotube / Polydimethylsiloxane Composites Yarn

Carbon nano tube (CNT) yarn is an axially aligned CNT assembly. It has great potential many applications. In this study, the mechanical and electrical properties of the aerogel-spun CNT yarns and CNT/Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) composite yarns were investigated. The CNT/PDMS yarn was fabricated by droplet infiltration of PDMS solution into the aerogel-spun CNT yarn. The mechanical properties of...

Mechanical and rheological properties of carbon nanotube-reinforced polyethylene composites

This paper investigates some mechanical and rheological properties of low density polyethylene (LDPE) composites reinforced by multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs). It was found that the Young’s modulus and tensile strength of the composites can increase by 89% and 56%, respectively, when the nanotube loading reaches 10 wt%. The curving and coiling of MWNTs play an important role in the enhanc...
